About

Safe, but not Comfortable

Breathe. Deeply. You’ve found a space where you can safely let it all hang out. Unpack your struggles, vent your frustrations, face down your sticking points.

But don’t relax.

Yes, you’re safe. But you’re not setting up house here. Safety isn’t a place to hide or stay put; paradoxically, safety creates the perfect place for change!

Expect me to challenge you, push you, motivate you to “level up” an area of your life.

Driven, but not Run Over

You’ll feel enough discomfort to experience consistent growth, but not so much that it overwhelms you.

Like a weightlifting regimen, the reps and weights must be challenging – yet safe. That’s where I come in.

My background as a self-defense instructor offers you the unique support you need to keep making consistent, healthy progress.

What do you want?

The coaching process starts and ends with a practical goal: pursuing a new career, a new relationship (or the end of a toxic one), a skill or hobby, a creative outlet, such as writing, painting, or music. It’s anything you want for your life but haven’t been able to grasp.

Your coaching request is paramount. We begin by establishing what change looks like for you in practical terms – to avoid allowing the abstract to paralyze your progress.

We flesh it out in measurable terms – so that we know for a fact that we’re on track.

What’s standing in your way

On the way, we identify limiting beliefs, assumptions, contexts, and narratives you bring to the process.

You’ll regularly hear me ask – “What is causing you to experience ______ the way you do?” Then, we work to reframe your answer.

We rely on your powerful commitments, increased self-awareness, and deep passion and desire to overcome these speed bumps.

Where do we go from there?

Once we’ve disarmed any internal roadblocks, we go back to the practical plan. We set deadlines; we create action steps; we refine ways of measuring our dreams.

We’ll answer this question: “How will we know when you have accomplished your goal?” We put it in concrete terms to make it real.

We get to work.

We keep that goal front and center all the time, celebrating and gaining momentum because we can actually see your success.

As those past echoes of limiting beliefs resurface, we return to your powerful dreams.

You renew your commitment, and together, we create support structures to get you there.

As the work progresses, so does your belief in yourself and your inherent power.

And the work pays off.

The results of our work are twofold.

The first is a new creation – a business, a relationship, a behavior, an observable and measurable change in your life.

The second is a different, more empowered relationship with yourself – your sense of what’s possible increases, your joy and sense of meaning expands, and your excitement and curiosity of what life can be surges.

Tap into Transformation

The coaching process can begin with frustration, falsely perceived limits, fear and anxiety, and a sense of impotence.

Quickly, it shifts to possibility, excitement, hope, and power.

But this shift doesn’t remain purely theoretical – you experience it in meaningful, functional results you previously considered out of your reach.

About Me

Growing into Leadership

Since I was a kid, people have labeled me a “leader,” but most of that time, I didn’t know what it meant. I grew up in the DC area, passionate about martial arts, music, writing, and sports. Though I excelled academically, I didn’t particularly enjoy school.

In college, I studied Ancient History and Philosophy, focusing on the Greco-Roman world. How ideas about art, ethics, politics, literature, and warfare could both endure and evolve fascinated me. At the time, I had planned to continue with graduate studies and forge a career in academia.

But in 2005, I discovered Krav Maga. Immediately, I loved the practicality and elegance of a self-defense system that truly worked. I saw the life-giving power that this training provided and witnessed firsthand how it enriched and transformed hundreds of lives, especially my own. I shifted my focus away from academia immediately.

For the past 15 years, I’ve been growing training centers, teaching seminars, and overseeing business operations. My greatest passion, however, is mentoring instructors. I love developing new leaders equipped to impact more and more lives with Krav Maga training.

Expanding into Coaching

I’m excited to broaden my work into the realm of life coaching. As a client, my mentors helped me make my pursuits clearer and more accessible. Their help, in turn, gave me the power to pursue bigger and loftier goals.

I can think of no more thrilling investment than to partner with others committed to the same.

Nowadays, I’m either helping to expand possibilities for my clients’ lives or continuing to mentor instructors on the mat.

Outside that, I enjoy adventures with my twin 10-year olds, Ethan and Eliana, and my Alaskan Malamute, Malcolm. I love hiking and backpacking, writing, traveling, and reveling in my Scottish heritage.
